OneGreatDay : recent photographs of interesting people

recent photographs of interesting people

Welcome to my blog!  I’m glad you stopped by and are taking the time to get to know me and what makes me tick as a photographer.

As  the only representative of the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA) and the Artist Guild
of the WPJA  (AGWPJA)
in the Waterloo Region, you will notice that most of the photos I take have a distinctive unposed, unscripted style.

This is what we in the business call photojournalism.  In essence, to be a photojournalist is to create a story, but using pictures instead of words. My approach is to document the wedding day as it happens, without directing or influencing the action.  I aim to be there at those moments when something spontaneous happens, to capture those actions, reactions and emotions. The resulting images are more meaningful and give more insight into you and the people that were part of your day.

This means that you have more time to relax, mingle with your guests, and put the party back into the wedding party! In other words, focus on enjoying your day rather than posing for pictures.

That being said, I still like to take a bit of time to do some spectacular creative portraits.  I like to find compositionally interesting elements within the environment (it could be anything from an open field to a cool architectural structure) and place you and the wedding party within that environment.  The resulting effects range from funky to smoldering; they are expressive, energetic portraits that convey something about your personality- in essence, interesting photos for interesting people!

Spend more time in the company of friends and family during your wedding day.
